What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with his DEFRA colleagues in Westminster about Welsh agriculture since 5 July 2024?

Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 23/09/2024

I met the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 9 July to discuss sustainable farming and funding.

I also undertook joint farm visits in South Wales with the Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs on 7 and 8 of August, where we spoke to farmers and farming union representatives about food security, provision of animal feed, bovine tuberculosis, the Welsh Veg into Schools initiative and the Sustainable Farming Scheme.

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Interministerial Group Meeting (IMG) also took place on 16 September. I will shortly be publishing a Written Statement with further details about this meeting.
