There is no statutory appeals process within the Blue Badge scheme. We recommend that local authorities have clear policies on how they will review blue badge decisions should they be challenged by an applicant. Applicants who are unhappy about the way their local authority dealt with their application should be made aware of their authority’s standard complaints procedure. If an applicant believes that the decision by their local authority to refuse a blue badge is flawed, they can also make a complaint to the Public Ombudsman Wales.
