What is the Welsh Government doing to ensure hospitals in Wales are properly ventilated?
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 05/09/2024
All hospitals in Wales are ventilated in accordance with the requirements of the Welsh Health Technical Memorandum (WHTM) 03-01 Specialised ventilation for healthcare premises. This would either be the current version or the guidance applicable at the time of build or refurbishment.
Each health board or NHS trust has a ventilation safety group – membership includes the authorising engineer, estates team and infection prevention control specialists – to ensure ventilation is compliant, maintained, designed, and installed in accordance with the guidance.
