What steps is the Welsh Government taking to train more vets at university level to ease the vet shortage?
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 14/08/2024
The vast majority of vets in Wales work in private sector practices.
We recognise the importance of the School of Veterinary Science at Aberystwyth University and how this unique facility contributes to veterinary careers in Wales.
Veterinary Science has also been added to the Seren Academy programme to support the aspirations and ambitions of the most able learners in years 8-13. It has already helped students from Wales to go on and study veterinary science at university and will continue to do so in the years ahead.
