There are no universal requirements in place for teaching assistants in Wales to be assigned to work with children and young people with additional learning needs (ALN). Settings and institutions will set their own requirements. However, the Teaching Assistant Learning Pathway (TALP) is a key component of the Welsh Government’s strategy to support the education workforce and improve outcomes for learners, including those with ALN.
