How is the Welsh Government working with Denbighshire County Council to draw up a roadmap to solve the widespread missed waste collection issues?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 08/07/2024

The Welsh Government’s expert advisors, have been actively working with Denbighshire to help deal with the issues they’ve faced in implementing the service change. The advice provided has been supporting Denbighshire to understand and prioritise immediate action on these issues and deal with the backlog in their collections.

The focus is on resolving the impact on people in Denbighshire who have not had their recycling collected as planned. This means clearing, as soon as possible, the backlog created during the first few weeks of the new service being implemented and ensuring the service is on robust footing moving forward.

The service change has already led to an increase in the amount and quality of materials being collected. This is feeding valuable resources back into the economy and creating value for Denbighshire residents.
