What is the Welsh Government doing to increase wages in Wales?

Answered by Minister for Social Partnership | Answered on 01/07/2024

An economy that supports more and better jobs is at the heart of our Economic Mission.  We encourage business investment, productivity and innovation to improve the supply of better paid work and we support individuals through our employability and skills interventions to improve access to and progression in work.

We also promote the Real Living Wage, and this has included supporting capacity at Cynnal Cymru as the Real Living Wage accreditation partner in Wales and the successful implementation of our Programme for Government commitment to introduce the Real Living Wage into social care.

Through levers such as our Economic Contract and the Code of Practice on Ethical Employment in Supply Chains, we encourage those whom we work with to consider the benefits of the Real Living Wage, and the number of Real Living Wage accredited employers in Wales continues to grow year-on-year.
