What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board regarding improving neurology services so that patients do not experience lengthy waits before being seen?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 03/07/2024

The Welsh Government’s aim is to ensure that people of all ages affected by a neurological condition have timely and equitable access to high quality services to enable them to live their best lives. We have set out our expectations in the Quality Statement for neurological conditions which was co-produced with the Neurological Conditions Implementation Group (NCIG), including the Wales Neurological Alliance.

Health boards and trusts are responsible for the delivery of these services to meet the needs of their local populations. Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTM) also commissions some neurological services from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. I am aware there are current challenges in capacity, but we continue to work closely with the NHS on planned care recovery and I am meeting the chairs of health boards and trusts on a monthly basis to review progress.
