What criteria will the Welsh Government use to measure the success of the basic income pilot scheme following the review?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice | Answered on 28/06/2024

We have commissioned an expert team, led by the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre (CASCADE) at Cardiff University to lead a wide-ranging evaluation of the Basic Income for Care Leavers in Wales pilot.

The evaluation of the pilot will provide a rigorous assessment of its impacts, how it was experienced and delivered, as well as the costs and benefits to wider society. The Initial Programme Theory and Logic Model, outlined in the first evaluation report, provides initial thinking around what the identified pilot outcomes are in order to frame the future evaluation of the impact of the pilot.
