Is the Welsh Government still committed to implementing the findings of the Commission on Justice report, following comments from the Shadow Home Secretary that the UK Labour Party will not devolve policing?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Cabinet Office | Answered on 25/06/2024

Pursuing the case for the devolution of justice and policing remains an important commitment within our Programme for Government.

Earlier this year, the Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales recommended starting the process of devolution with youth justice, probation and policing.

We are working with operational experts and leading academics to better understand how devolution of these areas might work and the steps we need to take to deliver a smooth transition.
