Will the Welsh Government provide an update on the impact the eco-schools programme has had on the environment in Wales following the 30-year anniversary of its adoption?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 27/06/2024

Through the Eco-schools programme, over 90% of schools in Wales have improved their school and local community environment in a tangible and sustainable way.

The programme has also supported tens of thousands of children and their families to achieve behaviour change and become environmentally educated citizens, individually improving where they live and work. It has also complimented and enhanced many strands of the educational curriculum.  In turn it propagates the potential and desire of participants to seek employment or start businesses within the environmental sector in Wales.
