How does the Welsh Government intend to use the reform of the bus network across Wales to make buses more accessible for blind and partially sighted people?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport | Answered on 14/06/2024

Bus reform offers a real opportunity to meaningfully engage with people sharing a wide variety of protected characteristics, in a way that bus operators aren’t currently required to. To help us design and deliver an accessible Welsh local bus network, Transport for Wales are widening their Accessibility and Inclusion Panel to make sure we listen to and understand the needs of those people. This will include, but is not limited to, accessibility of the fleet, driver training, and accessibility of bus information. We will also work with local authorities to support them to make improvements to the accessibility of bus stop infrastructure.
