What action is the Welsh Government taking to reduce the number of people under 40 being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which has risen by 22 per cent over the last 7 years?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 13/06/2024

The Quality Statement for Diabetes includes an expectation that health boards provide services that identify people at high risk of developing types 2 diabetes and refer people to the all-Wales Diabetes Prevention Programme to reduce their risk.

The All-Wales Diabetes Prevention Programme, funded through the Healthy Weight Healthy Wales strategy, is a targeted programme that offers support to people at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
