What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the impact of preventing housing support services for children from making a profit on the provision of services by the private sector?
No specific assessment has been made of the impact of preventing housing support services for children from making a profit.
Under the Programme for Government our focus has been eliminating private profit from the care of children looked after. The Health and Social Care (Wales) Bill, introduced in May, restricts the making of profit in the provision of care home services provided wholly or mainly to children, fostering services and secure accommodation services. Supported accommodation services for children are not included within the scope of this Bill given they are not a regulated service - accommodation, together with care would be classed as a care home service.
