Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on what action they are taking to encourage more women to enter into the field of game development?
Creative Wales offers support to the games industry through various funding streams such as Game Talent Wales, Development Funding and Production Funding. All Creative Wales funding programmes actively encourage equality and diversity as part of their application criteria. For example, one company in receipt of Welsh Government EFF support have recently recruited 4 female team members for their Cardiff operation.
This year we have also supported a games accelerator programme which has equality and diversity at the forefront of recruitment. 2 female entrepreneurs have been supported in this current round in 2024 and 2 in 2023. Furthermore, as a result of the 2023 Creative Wales skills fund, 19 women benefitted from supported training in games and animation.
