How much money does the Welsh Government provide to the School of Dentistry, Cardiff University each year?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 13/06/2024

No funds are provided directly by the Welsh Government to the School of Dentistry.

Dental SIFT is allocated to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CVUHB) to fund the undergraduate dental teaching which takes place within the University Dental Hospital (UDH) at Cardiff University as well as outreach teaching activity delivered across Wales. Payments are made directly to the Health Board on a monthly basis.

The 2023-24 Dental SIFT allocation was £12.943m, and is paid directly to CVUHB, who subsequently control the flow of funds to the School.

In addition to this Welsh Government also provides £0.820m to CVUHB as part of their core annual allocation to further support Dental SIFT activity.
