Which location or locations are being looked at for the provision of training to respond to the Welsh Government's commitment in the dental workforce plan to commission an additional year-long exchange programme in North Wales for dental hygienists with a level 5 diploma of higher education?
Bangor University will deliver this programme. There is no current training provision or placement for dental therapists in North Wales and this programme meets this need in terms of increasing the workforce.
A purpose-built placement facility has been set up at the North Wales Dental Academy and offers placements to these students. There are currently no other dental training facilities in Wales that would be able to offer this training without significant investment in dental equipment and facilities.
