How does the Welsh Government calculate business rates payable on community owned wind turbines?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Cabinet Office | Answered on 31/05/2024

Non-domestic rates are calculated by taking the rateable value of a property and multiplying it by the current non-domestic rates multiplier. The Valuation Office Agency assigns the rateable value and the Welsh Government sets the multiplier. Any relief the ratepayer is eligible for will then be applied to determine final liability.

Local authorities are responsible for the administration of non-domestic rates, including billing and the administration of reliefs, for properties on the local rating lists for their areas.
