Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the Welsh Government's funding for the national plan for music education?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 22/05/2024

The National Music Service, supported by the National Plan for Music Education,  is fully funded by the Welsh Government, with a significant investment totalling £13 million over the period 2022 to 2025. Further information on our funding for the National Music Service can be found in the published Final Budget 2024 to 2025.

Since 2022, this funding has supported a range of areas of work, including the ‘First Experiences’ programme, which has worked with over 70 per cent of primary schools, the Charanga Cymru digital music platform which has been accessed by over 1,000 schools, focused support for young people with Additional Learning Needs, and a programme of professional support for practitioners.
