What action is the Welsh Government taking to ensure students have access to quality housing?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning | Answered on 22/05/2024

All private landlords, including those of student accommodation, are required to meet the Renting Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) (Wales) Regulations 2022.

Universities also have a responsibility to ensure their students are well informed about rental policies, especially those considered to be most vulnerable.

Welsh Universities are signed up to the Accommodation code of practice which protects students’ rights to a safe, good quality place to live. It outlines everything a student should expect from their university or college accommodation as well as their responsibilities as a tenant.
