What alternative risk management and business case guidance approaches will the Cabinet Secretary permit so that communities, such as Llanmaes, can have a flood alleviation scheme installed?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 22/05/2024

Schemes funded via the Welsh Government’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Programme must follow our business case guidance. The business case guidance complies with HM Treasury’s ‘Green Book’ guidance for the economic appraisal of public sector projects. This optimises public sector investment and ensures that all flood risk management proposals in Wales provide value for money.

We are continuing to work with the Vale of Glamorgan Council as they seek to develop a cost-effective scheme for the community of Llanmaes.
