How is the Welsh Government working with Estyn to ensure that parents and the wider public engage with and understand the conclusions and recommendations of the reports it produces?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 21/05/2024

The Welsh Government works in partnership with Estyn which has a key role in delivering independent, comprehensive and accurate inspections of schools.

Estyn is independent of the Welsh Government; therefore, the Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales is responsible for school inspection arrangements and the reports produced following inspection.

Estyn produce a summary report for parents following each inspection which summaries the key information, conclusions and recommendations.

From September 2024, more frequent school inspection intelligence will be available to give regular assurances to parents and carers.
