How does the Cabinet Secretary plan to eliminate increasing levels of violence in schools?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 20/05/2024

Any form of violence or abuse against staff in our schools is completely unacceptable. We do not tolerate violence and aggression in schools and colleges against teachers or pupils. All schools and settings are required to have a behaviour policy which promotes good pupil behaviour.

Guidance for primary and secondary schools is already available on the Welsh Government website. To further enhance behaviour policies, we are developing a behaviour toolkit for schools which sets out strategies to help prevent behavioural issues from occurring, deal with issues when they happen and prevent problems from becoming entrenched or escalated.
