What events and activities are planned by the Welsh Government to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Wales?
D-Day 80 commemorations are rightly focused on the participation of our surviving veterans in the UK national activities in Portsmouth on 5th June and an international ceremony in Normandy, France on 6th June. It is important that the Welsh Government marks this important anniversary appropriately and the First Minister will represent the Welsh Government at these events.
Welsh Government will raise the official D-Day 80 flag at its Cathays Park building to mark the anniversary, alongside representatives of the Armed Services and the Royal British Legion. We are also raising awareness of local community events and those being run by the Armed Forces community across Wales.
