Will the Cabinet Secretary outline how the Welsh Government is assisting Denbighshire County Council in finding an operator for Queen’s Market in Rhyl?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning | Answered on 14/05/2024

Through our Transforming Towns programme, capital grant funding has supported the redevelopment of Rhyl’s Queens Buildings, returning the site to a vibrant productive use with a new versatile, indoor market and flexible events space. The project will bring additional economic activity and footfall to the town centre.

The procurement exercise to find an operator for the site is the direct responsibility of Denbighshire County Council, who are currently considering the appointment of an operator best placed to deliver this exciting new offer for the town. Through established project management arrangements, Welsh Government officials are working closely with the Council in ensuring the right appointment takes place as soon as possible to allow the building to open to the public.
