How is the Welsh Government supporting computer game developers in Wales to achieve international success, in light of the the first-week success of Sker Ritual?
We were very pleased to see the success of Sker Ritual by Wales Interactive, a Penarth based company that attended the Welsh Government trade mission to the Games Development Conference in San Francisco in March this year, alongside other Welsh studios.
We consider the games industry a priority sector and we are taking active strides to grow it at pace. Creative Wales supports games companies through development funding to create new IP, production funding for new titles, and support to attend overseas events. We also fund a talent development programme through Wrexham University and University of South Wales and are this year providing 5 Welsh businesses with fully funded places on a specialist UK wide accelerator programme. This will support games business owners with advice on growing their business and selling internationally.
