Will the Cabinet Secretary outline which specialties in which hospitals are using the OpenEyes system?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 08/05/2024

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has implemented eye care subspecialties, including glaucoma with related cataract, eye casualty, cataract, cornea, general ophthalmology, medical retina, paediatrics, plastics, vitreoretinal, and neuro-ophthalmology, either fully or partially, into the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.

This integration spans facilities, including the University Hospital Wales and the ophthalmic diagnostic and treatment centre at Cardiff University, as well as Specsavers Penarth and Specsavers Llanishen. Additionally, the glaucoma subspecialty has been integrated into the EPR system in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg area, including the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Princess of Wales Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, and Maesteg Community Hospital.
