What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the impact on wildlife of ships moored in St Brides Bay, Pembrokeshire?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 07/05/2024

Marine Codes of Conduct are in place across Wales to reduce unintended harm to wildlife. The codes broadly include requirements to avoid sensitive areas or areas with a high concentration of wildlife; to keep an adequate distance from wildlife; and to reduce speed and sound of vessels to avoid disturbance.

There are specific codes of conduct in Pembrokeshire for coastal users relating to seals, seabirds, and cetacean species to reduce or remove disturbance at particularly sensitive times of year.
