Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many students from Wales were in their first year of studying dentistry in Wales for each of the last three years and of those students, which Welsh local authority did they come from?

The following table confirms the number of first-year Welsh domiciled dentistry students that were studying in Wales for each of the last three years (2019/20 to 2021/22):

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a breakdown of which local authority in Wales these students are from, due to the relatively low numbers involved. The data would result in suppressed figures (i.e., appear as zeros).

Notes

All figures based on enrolments for students:
1. In the Standard Higher Education registration population

2. Of Welsh domicile

3. Studying a dentistry course regulated by the General Dental Council (GDC)

4. In their first year of study

5. Studying a course with any of the following course aims:

a. Pre-registration first degree with honours leading towards obtaining eligibility to register to practice with a health or social care or veterinary statutory regulatory body

b. Pre-registration ordinary (non-honours) first degree leading towards obtaining eligibility to register to practice with a health or social care or veterinary statutory regulatory body

c. Integrated undergraduate/postgraduate taught masters degree on the enhanced/extended pattern leading towards obtaining eligibility to register to practice with a health or social care or veterinary statutory regulatory body
