Will the Cabinet Secretary list all the accident and emergency departments that do not have a substance misuse team during weekends?
This information is not held centrally. Service coverage and configuration are operational matters for health boards which are responsible for delivering services to meet the needs of their populations.
Health boards are provided with over £22m through ring-fenced allocations to support their substance misuse services. In addition, more than £41m is provided to Area Planning Boards, of which health boards are key members, and jointly have responsibility for commissioning services to meet local need.
Our recently published Quality Statement for care in emergency departments, includes having processes in place to recognise protected characteristics and circumstances, including parts of the community at most risk, to provide tailored care and support equitable outcomes.
