Further to WQ91282, will the Cabinet Secretary provide copies of the relevant documents used to undertake rural proofing, and outline why these are not currently available publicly?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 29/04/2024

Welsh Government is required to undertake an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) when developing any policies. The IIA brings together a range of impact assessments into a coherent framework and includes things like Equality, Welsh language and Rural Proofing. A summary of each IIA undertaken is published on the Welsh Government website - Publications | GOV.WALES.

There are resources available to support officials preparing IIAs. These are internal Welsh Government resources for staff to use and we don’t routinely publish them, but I will write to you and set out all elements relevant to rural proofing.
