Will the Cabinet Secretary continue discussions with the UK government to have the withheld consequential funding returned to Wales in light of the cost of HS2?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Cabinet Office | Answered on 17/04/2024

Up to the end of 2024-25, Wales will have missed out on around £350m consequential funding as a result of the incorrect classification of HS2. Following a bilateral meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Treasury in January, at which I secured her agreement to give this matter further consideration, I wrote last month reiterating the Welsh Government’s position. We have agreed to discuss this at our next bilateral which is expected to take place in June.
