The Local Government and Elections (Wales) Act 2021 (the 2021 Act) made provision for the maximum number of executive members to be increased from 10 to 13 to allow for up to 3 job-share arrangements to be put in place.
It is a matter for each council to decide whether to operate job-share arrangements.
Council arrangements are subject to change and current information indicates there are 4 councils with job-share arrangements in place as follows:
- Flintshire County Council - two members sharing the role of Deputy Leader.
- Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn - two members sharing the role of Deputy
- City & County of Swansea Council - two members sharing the role of Cabinet Member for Community
- City & County of Cardiff Council – two members sharing Social Services portfolio, and another two members sharing the Tackling Poverty, Equality & Public Health portfolio.
