What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the impact of using school report cards on monitoring pupils progress?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 12/04/2024

Statutory requirements for head teachers ensures that parents and carers have termly information on how a learner is progressing within the Curriculum for Wales, usually in the form of a report.

Our school improvement guidance supports schools to improve and put learners at the centre to give them the best possible learning experiences and outcomes. The guidance sets out the framework for evaluation, improvement and accountability under the curriculum. Estyn continue to play a key accountability role within this framework to support schools. Estyn inspections provide objective, independent and impartial inspection reports which are published so parents and carers can see how well individual schools and the wider system is doing.
