What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the impact of the Sustainable Farming Scheme on prices for consumers?
The Sustainable Farming Scheme has been designed to meet the statutory objectives in the Agriculture (Wales) Act 2023, including to produce food and other goods in a sustainable manner, and to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Collaborative actions under the Scheme are expected to include support for increased resource efficiency and new supply chain opportunities to support increased local high quality food supply. We published an Integrated Impact Assessment alongside the recent consultation, setting out our view of the likely impacts of the proposed Scheme. This did not include an assessment of impacts on consumer prices but did include a broader socio-economic assessment.
