Will the Minister provide a breakdown of the total cost since 2013 of the upskilling of 27,000 practitioners in anti-racist practice through the diversity and anti-racist professional learning scheme?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice | Answered on 27/03/2024

Diversity and anti-racist professional learning (DARPL) provision launched in 2022.  Funding to support the development and delivery of DARPL is awarded to Cardiff Metropolitan University. Allocations made available to date are outlined below:

21/22  £147,701 – 21/22 was the first year of funding

22/23  £175,805

23/24  £492,436

Increased investment during 23/24 aligns with the extension of this provision to childcare, playwork and early years and further education.  Engagement with DARPL has been highly positive. However, the reach beyond initial involvement is much broader.  For example, an event in autumn 23 involved regional tier 2 leaders, responsible for supporting 400+ schools, with potential to positively impact on the experiences of 80,000+ learners.
