What action is the Minister taking to encourage more businesses to set up in Wales?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language | Answered on 03/04/2024

As part of the Economic Mission and International Strategy, the Welsh Government actively promotes Wales internationally as a location for investment, in particular we promote areas of the economy where Wales has international class capabilities. We work with existing investors to support their presence in Wales and have a programme of overseas activities and events to engage with international businesses and partners to showcase Wales’ capabilities and promote inward investment opportunities, including those offered by the new Free Trade Agreements that are being negotiated.

Business Wales supports businesses who set-up in Wales with a wide range of business information, advice and support from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Support is tailored according to client need and the different regions of Wales. Business Wales helps businesses access funding including links to the Development Bank of Wales. Specialist tailored support is also available from the Business Wales Accelerated Growth programme to develop businesses that have the potential to realise significant growth.
