What is the Minister's response to attendees at the recent Welsh Local Medical Committees conference passing a motion which deplores the failure of the Welsh Government to negotiate a GP contract for this financial year?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 21/03/2024

I am pleased that through the established tripartite process between the Welsh Government, NHS Wales and the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) Wales, that the Welsh Government has been able to invest £20 million in General Medical Services this year. This includes a 5% pay uplift for all staff working in general practice – including GPs, practice nurses and administrative staff.

Further detail on the conclusion to negotiations is set out in my Written Statement of 7 February 2024.
