What support or guidance does the Welsh Government offer to schools, local authorities or families who cannot afford cooking supplies for cookery classes?
We recognise the cost-of-living crisis is putting schools under significant pressure and that there are no easy answers to resolving these issues. When arranging school activities, governing bodies and head teachers should do as much as is practicable to ensure that children and young people living in poverty are not unfairly disadvantaged.
In addition, the School Essentials Grant goes direct to families to reduce the worry surround the purchase of school clothing and equipment, enabling children to attend school and take part in activities at the same level as their peers.
