How does the Welsh Government ensure that the signs of ADHD in children are recognised early in schools?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 14/03/2024

Our education reforms aim to ensure children and young people have their needs met in a timely way. Early identification, intervention, and prevention is a key principle underpinning the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) system.

The ALN system is person-centred, and a medical diagnosis is not required to ensure support is provided to a learner when they need it.  A range of Professional Learning and resources are available to education practitioners to support early identification, intervention, and prevention.
