What consideration has the Welsh Government given to amending land transaction tax, following the UK Government's decision to scrap stamp duty relief for people buying more than one residential property?
My officials are considering the impact of the abolition of stamp duty multiple-dwellings relief. I will inform the Senedd of my intentions in due course. Regrettably, the Welsh Government was only informed of these changes at the time the announcement was made by the Chancellor.
I have written to the Chancellor and Treasury Ministers several times to request that we are informed of tax changes that impact Wales before they are made public. When I meet with the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 14 March I will emphasise the importance to the people of Wales that changes such as this one should be made with due consultation.
