Does the Welsh Government support the expansion in rail penalty charges currently being rolled out by Transport for Wales?

Penalty fares are a more proportionate way of deterring ticketless travel. Passengers caught travelling without a ticket will no longer be pursued via the criminal justice system, which can result in a fine of hundreds of pounds and a criminal record. The new penalty fares system is a fairer way to encourage passengers to purchase a ticket whilst protecting Transport for Wales from lost income from fare evasion.
