What action is the Minister taking to encourage more students to become design technology teachers?
Our Welsh in education workforce plan outlines the actions we are taking with our partners to increase the number of Welsh-medium teachers.
The Welsh Government offers incentives to attract student teachers into initial teacher education with certain subject specialisms where these have been identified as a priority for the workforce. The Welsh Government has also committed to continue our support for the Part-time PGCE and Salaried PGCE, for new student teachers in both academic year 2024/25 and academic year 2025/26. The alternative ITE routes enable those unable to undertake full-time ITE to access the teaching profession and address priority subject areas.
