What assessment has the Welsh Government made of recommendations in the Buckland review of autism employment?

Answered by Minister for Economy | Answered on 07/03/2024

The Buckland Review was commissioned by and for the Department for Work and Pensions. In Wales, we have adopted the Social Model of Disability, and this influences our employability programmes and the work of our Disabled People’s Employment Champions in supporting the participation and progression of people in employment, and in working with employers and trade unions to raise awareness of reasonable adjustments.

The Welsh Government has consistently made representations to UK Ministers in opposition to punitive UK welfare measures that leave workers with protected characteristics worse off and without access to more varied and accessible employment opportunities.
