Will the Welsh Government consider establishing annual ‘COP Cymru’ meetings to assess the current climate emergency, to consider previous responses and the responses that are needed in order to safeguard Wales and its people, while promoting specific work programmes each year?

Welsh Government has held annual Wales Climate Week summits since 2019, including each year during the pandemic, and have committed to continuing annual events for the duration of the current carbon budget to 2025. These events have evolved in format and scope in response to feedback and we welcome ideas for future events. They are one part of wider, ongoing climate engagement promoted by the Welsh Government, because we believe that involving others in designing solutions to climate change is important, particularly in considering the impact on those most likely to be affected by the changes. This reinforces our commitment to ensuring fairness as we transition to a more sustainable economy.
