What training does the Welsh Government offer to the parents of homeschooled children to assist in the appropriate delivery of lessons?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 15/02/2024

Parents who decide to home educate their children must be prepared to assume full responsibility for their child’s education.  Local authorities are expected to assist home educating parents, including promoting access to learning opportunities available to all children in their area. The parental handbook also signposts a range of resources and services.

Under section 436A of the Education Act 1996, local authorities must make arrangements to identify children in their area who are of compulsory school age and not receiving a suitable education.
