What action is the Minister taking to ensure parents of homeschooled children can access resources for GCSE examination preparation?
As outlined in our statutory guidance local authorities are responsible for ensuring that electively home educated children are in receipt of a suitable and efficient education. They should also be ready, if a lack of a suitable education appears likely to impair a child’s development, to fully exercise their safeguarding powers and duties to protect the child’s wellbeing.
The Welsh Government is providing local authorities with additional funding of £1.7 million a year, over a 3-year period to develop and provide support for home-educating families to enhance their learning and encourage greater access to universal services. This funding is unique to Wales.
