Will the Minister confirm whether the Welsh Government supports the practice by hospitals of informing those on waiting lists over written correspondence that they have a limited time to book an appointment or will be removed from the waiting list?

National guidance on the management of RTT clearly demonstrates the guiding principles related to how appointments under the principle of “reasonable offer” should be booked.

The details of this guidance can be found from page 16 of the V7 October 2017 document at guidance.

The guiding principle being that both the health board and the patient has a role to play in agreeing a mutually agreed appointment. This role should be communicated to patients on acceptance of the referral at the start of their pathway.
