Will the Commission outline how much the Tŷ Hywel flagpole replacement works will cost?

Answered by Senedd Commission | Answered on 26/02/2024

The Tŷ Hywel flag poles were installed in 1999 and have now exceeded their lifecycle by several years. They have been kept safe and operational through a regular programme of maintenance, but their age and the local marine and coastal environment in which they sit, now mean that they have deteriorated to a position where they can no longer be maintained to ensure ongoing safety.

A significant aspect of the works to replace the flagpoles will involve removing the existing concrete plinth in which the flagpoles sit, to rebuild a new base that will ensure the foundations are robust and secure enough to safely accommodate the new flagpoles for their expected lifecycle.

The cost to replace the flagpoles, and associated works, is £36,595. The works are being delivered through EFM’s Facilities Management contract with CBRE following a competitive tender exercise to ensure best value for money.
