What consideration has the Minister given to amending regulations to allow for the installation of small roof-mounted wind turbines without having to apply for planning permission?

The Welsh Government has extensive permitted development rights to support renewable energy schemes on both domestic and non-domestic buildings. These cover the installation of solar, wind and air technologies, and ground and water source heat pumps. Permitted development rights support the installation of standalone wind turbines in the curtilage of domestic properties.

There are currently no plans to amend the permitted development rights to cover roof-mounted wind turbines at this time. This position is kept under review.
